Das ist doch krank! /Sick and Tired is a new event in Berlin, which is an open stage, especially but not limited to people with disabilities, chronic illness, or those who just have experienced funny, weird, or even absurd situations with the health care system in general. At this event, people have the chance to express themselves either in form of dance, song, poetry, a skit, or just simply by telling their story. As long as it doesn't take longer than 6 minutes, is a personal experience, and makes other people laugh, almost everything is possible. Since laughter is the best medicine. Do you have a story to tell? Have you experienced something funny, weird, or absurd in regard to the medical field? Then don't hesitate to show it in front of an audience! No matter if you are a professional artist or just trying to manage the art of living your best life, everyone is welcome!

Noéline la Bouche is a Berlin-based burlesque performer and singer who is dealing with health issues since her childhood. She has chronic illnesses, is an ambulant wheel chair user and partly dependent on other mobility aids. She's not just physically disabled but also neurodivergent and dealing with psychological stress. She had spent more time in hospitals than outside of them and naturally has experienced a lot of crazy and straight up absurd situations with doctors, nurses, caregivers, and just the German healthcare system in general. A few of them, she shared on social media in her so-called „Self-isolation-updates“, after Covid had practically has changed her life over night in 2020 and she became dependent on dialysis treatment. Since then, it was barely possible for her to get on stage, but she still likes to keep herself busy by creating pasties, headpieces, and harnesses, called „Noéline’s accessories“ and she’s also trying to adapt to the new life situation by bringing a new event to her hometown of Berlin. With „Das ist doch krank!/Sick and Tired“ she wants to give other disabled people more visibility, spread awareness about their lived experiences and the obvious grievances in the health care system, and take the feeling of being uncomfortable around the subject of disability and illness or viewing it as taboo, away by removing a bit of its seriousness and discuss it in a lighthearted manner. She is a firm believer that humor is a great tool to make heavy topics a little more approachable

Would you like to share your story on stage? In that case, just buy a ticket* and join us at our next event.
Be as prepared and ready to go as possible. People who want to perform skits have to bring their own accessories and props. Show up early and register yourself** and just enter the stage, when your name is announced. It's that simple!
* Wer can't offer free entry, but every participant gets a little reward after performing and a free drink!
** Please understand that we can only offer 10 spots per show; first come, first serve!
Be Respectful
Even when you don't get on stage, you are still part of the show. Please make sure that you act in a respectful manner.
Don't heckle!
Don't judge how others handle their issues and stay in your lane! Please wear a mask ifpossible.
Be prepared
If you want to go on
stage, please show up
on time and register
yourself. There are only 10 spots available at
every show, first come first serve! When you are announced you should be ready to perform.
Stay in the timeframe
Every participant has up to 6 minutes to tell their story or perform their act. Please respect that and leave the stage after a maximum of 6 minutes reached. Even though it is easy to get carried away, everyone else deserves to be heard as well.
Stay on topic
Remember that even when the show is about something that can be traumatic and sad, it is dealing with that in a humorous way. So please try to keep your story lighthearted. Avoid topics that could be triggering (like self-harm, violence, abuse, or graphic detail about injuries, surgeries, etc.) and give a trigger warning if such topics can't be avoided.

After you’ve purchased your ticket on a donation basis, you’ll receive a confirmation email. In it, you’ll find the link to the stream. Then nothing stands in the way of your online participation.
